INTRODUCTION

Vivekayuktananda is, as Shri Swami Sivananda, founder of the Divine Life Society said, one of those rare exceptions in Life in which a human being is born with Knowledge of Brahman, the Absolute without name or form, without the need of the guidance of a guru.

In 1955, at the age of nine, one of his uncles became his first disciple, such event gave rise to the ashram and from that moment onwards more disciples started coming.

In the year 1965 he founded the Hatha Yoga Ananda Institute in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic. Later, in 1967, he founded the Yukteswar Yogic Studies Institute in the same city, whose head office was located in Viamonte 1532 St. (first, second and fourth floors) and had several subsidiaries in the City of Buenos Aires, as well as in the interior of the country and abroad.

In the year 1972 he travelled to India by invitation of Shri Swami Chidananda Maharaj, world president of The Divine Life Society. In the Ananda Kutir, by the river banks of the Ganges (Rishikesh) through a simple ceremony, as requested by Vivekayuktananda, Swami Chidananda together with Swami Krishnananda, General Secretary of the DLS and Swami Nilakhantananda, professor of the Yoga Vedanta Forest University, direct disciples of Shri Swami Sivananda, formally granted him the title of Swami.
Swami Nilakhantananda recognized in Vivekayuktananda a Being with an inborn Knowledge of Brahman and at that moment publicly declared that Vivekayuktananda lives since his birth in the state of Sahaja Samadhi, which was also recognized by Shri Swami Chidananda.

During that same year, Vivekayuktananda travelled across India giving Darshan and participating in events to which he had been invited, one of them was the 23rd Congress of All Religions, carried out by the DLS in Cuttack.

In the following years he continued giving classes of Hatha Yoga and spreading the philosophical concepts of Yoga and Vedanta, through talks and lectures that took place at the head office of the institute in Buenos Aires and the subsidiaries already mentioned, until due to the divinization towards himself on the part of some internal and external disciples, he decided to close the institution for this was against one of his essential principles: " No human being is internally above or below another. If you divinize somebody, you will always feel below him, which is a serious mistake, since like this you will never be able to achieve your goal."

From that moment, with several of his direct disciples, whom he prefers to call friends, he is devoted to imparting what is known in Sanskrit as Aparoksha Anubhuti or Direct Knowledge, which he continues doing nowadays in the Vivekayuktananda Ashram.
